I am very new to the wireless thing and not the most savvy computer person. Does the strength of the wireless connection correlate to the speed in which pages load? And if not, then why is my computer, Inspiron 1501 (just bought 4/8/07), so slow? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.
I read the sticky FAQ but couldn't find anything useful.
I am looking to make my internet connection wireless as I have a laptop I'd like to use around the house but I'm just not sure what I need.
I have cable at an uncapped speed (1500+ I think) and was unsure what parts I needed.
I read that I need a wireless router and a wireless PCI card but was unsure which card best suits my connection. Do the wireless G products allow for full use of an uncapped connection or will it slow my access speed down?
So, could someone just clarify this for me. Would I only need a wireless router and PCI card for my desktop and I'd be right to go?
Also, which router and card is best? Which speeds would I need, etc?
On this whole topic, I thought I could set up this wireless network myself. Am I mistaken and it's harder than I thought? I'm not a novice but are not overly familiar with networking.
Thanks
I got it to work today with the help of our vendor. Thought i'd share with you how this is done, cause apparently it was already possible on our firmware for over a year. (v80).
We have the T48G.
* Login to your telephone directly by pointing your browser to its IP address. (so not use the provisional landing page (first mistake i made)).
* Go to DSS keys
* Create new speeddial entry
* Everything that is not the primary phone number needs to be put in the extension Field (so not in the Value field).
* Use <#> as the pause sign, where # needs to be replaced by the number of seconds you would like to wait. So you would use '<5>' for 5 seconds...
So if would like to dial my conference bridge at '123123123' and then wait for 4 seconds and then dial extension 567567#: i would put '123123123'in the value field, and '<4>567567#' in the extension field.
NOt sure if this works for all your phones, but you could give it a try.
Best, Rogier
